Credentials & Professional Affiliations
My background combines professional certifications, specialized training, and professional memberships. Here’s what each means and how it connects with my work.

National Certified Counselor
National professional certification

I hold the National Certified Counselor (NCC) credential through the National Board for Certified Counselors. This voluntary certification reflects national standards for counseling education, examination, and professional practice, with ongoing continuing education and ethical requirements. It is separate from state licensure. For you, it offers another way to understand the professional preparation behind my work, alongside the relationship we build and the goals we identify together.

EMDRIA Certified Therapistâ„¢
Specialty certification

EMDRIA certification goes beyond completing an EMDR basic training. It includes additional clinical experience using EMDR, consultation, and continuing education, alongside independent professional licensure. This credential reflects my continued development in EMDR therapy. In our work together, the decision to use EMDR still depends on your needs, preferences, and readiness. We can talk through the approach, preparation, and pacing before deciding whether it is a good fit for you.

Certified Mindfulness Teacher (MIEA)
Mindfulness teacher certification

My mindfulness teacher certification is through the Mindfulness Institute for Emerging Adults, formerly Koru Mindfulness. Its teacher preparation includes learning the curriculum, practicing teaching, receiving mentorship, and completing a reviewed teaching portfolio. The program was developed with emerging adults in mind. This training informs how I introduce mindfulness as a learnable practice, rather than an expectation that you should already know how to meditate or be able to make your mind go quiet.

AAMFT Clinical Fellow
Credentialed professional membership

I am a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. This designation recognizes qualifying marriage and family therapy licensure or an approved education and training pathway. It connects with the relational perspective I bring to counseling: considering patterns between people, the contexts around those patterns, and what each person hopes can change.

Certified Geek Therapist
Specialized training certification

My Certified Geek Therapist credential is through Geek Therapeutics. This training focuses on bringing geek culture, including games, stories, comics, and fandoms, into counseling thoughtfully and ethically. Your interests can offer a familiar starting point for exploring identity, relationships, and what matters to you. You do not need to be a gamer, share my interests, or use pop-culture references for therapy to be meaningful. We decide together what belongs in the conversation.

Culturally Competent in Geek Therapy
Focused professional training

This badge reflects training focused on understanding geek culture, rather than assuming that an interest in games, fantasy, or fandom is a problem to explain away. Geek Therapeutics includes cultural-competency coursework and an examination in its training pathway. In practice, I want to understand what your interests mean to you.

Therapeutic Game Master
Specialized training certification

Therapeutic Game Master training focuses on using tabletop role-playing games intentionally, with attention to facilitation, group dynamics, ethics, and participant safety. Collaborative storytelling can create opportunities to explore choices, relationships, and different ways of responding. Game-based work is an option we can consider together when it fits your goals and preferences.

SAIGE Member
Professional association membership

I am a member of SAIGE, the Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities. This professional association brings together counselors and related professionals serving LGBTQIA+ people and communities through education, research, and advocacy. My membership reflects a connection to that professional community and its work. Your identity and relationships deserve to be understood in your own terms, without assumptions about who you are.

The person behind the credentials matters, too.
You are welcome to ask about my training, how I work, and what a particular approach might look like for you. We can talk about what you are looking for and whether working together feels like a good fit.
